Abstract: This dataset presents the consolidated macro-zone layers derived from the NLUZ Baseline 2023. It integrates sectoral datasets from multiple agencies and includes eight major land use macro zones: Agricultural Land, Rural Settlement, Sustainable Forest Management Area, Nature Conservation Area, Industrial, Cultural Heritage, Urban, and Rangeland. It also incorporates key right-of-way buffers such as highway buffers, transmission line buffers, and flight funnel buffers. The dataset represents a generalized macro-level spatial output of the NLUZ Baseline 2023 consolidation exercise.
-
Purpose: This dataset represents the consolidation of sector-specific micro-zones from the NLUZ Baseline Data 2023 into standardized macro-zone categories defined in the NLUZ Baseline Report 2023.
-
Credits: This dataset and mapping product is developed based on the National Land Use Zoning (NLUZ) Baseline Data 2023 and associated datasets provided by multiple government agencies. The macro-zone consolidation and spatial integration were carried out by the Geo-Informatics Division, Department of Survey and Mapping, National Land Commission Secretariat.
Key contributing agencies include the Department of Forest and Park Services, Department of Agriculture, Department of Human Settlements, Department of Energy, Department of Surface Transport, Department of Geology and Mines, Department of Industry, Department of Air Transport, Department of Water, and the Department of Culture and Dzongkha Development.
Base data and supporting spatial information were used from respective custodians. Basemaps (where applicable) are sourced from open or standard cartographic services as referenced in the map layout.

Limitations of use: This dataset is a generalized macro-level representation derived from the NLUZ Baseline 2023 and is intended for visualization and reference only. The spatial accuracy and thematic classification are dependent on the quality and resolution of the source datasets provided by respective custodians. Users should not use this dataset for legal, administrative, or regulatory decision-making without verification from the original data authorities.Any interpretation, modification, or redistribution of this dataset must acknowledge the National Land Commission Secretariat and the contributing agencies of the NLUZ Baseline 2023.
